Iowa State Women's Basketball By Travis Cordes | Saturday, February 20, 2010 4:53 PM | 0 comments

No. 13 ISU WBB vs. Missouri

SECOND HALF

0:00: The Cyclones managed to hold a double-digit lead for the entire second half, and left Hilton with a 55-42 win. Full stories can be found at www.iowastatedaily.com

12:52: It’s been a slow second half, as only 14 points have been scored in the first 7 minutes since halftime. Poppens already has a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Iowa State leads 36-21.

HALFTIME

Also: Megan Taylor still looks 19 years old.

Iowa State statistics leaders:

Points: Lacey, Poppens 10

Rebounds: Poppens 8, Stuckey 6

Assists: Lacey 4, Stuckey 3

FIRST HALF

0:00: Through 20 minutes of basketball it’s Iowa State 30, Missouri 12. Halftime stats posted shortly.

3:04: More of the same for the Cyclones until senior Alison Lacey dropped six in a row, including one of her vintage 23-footers from the wing to bump Iowa State’s lead to 16. At the fourth and final media timeout of the first half, it’s 26-10 Cyclones.

7:16: The last four minutes of basketball weren’t pretty for Iowa State, as their reserves accounted for countless turnovers in just a short period, and the Cyclone lead has been cut to 20-10 at the third media timeout.

11:49: The onslaught continues for Iowa State, who ended up going on an 18-2 run to begin the game. 14 of those 18 points were scored by freshman, 10 coming from Poppens. We’re at the second media timeout and Iowa State now leads 18-4.

15:45: Apparently there’s something about Missouri that really gets Chelsea Poppens going. After outscoring the Tigers in the first half of their game in Columbia earlier this season, Poppens scored the first 6 points of the game for the Cyclones tonight. At the first media timeout it’s been all Iowa State, which leads 8-2.

PREGAME

We’re just about 5 minutes away from tip off as the Cyclones are preparing to honor the program’s all-time leading scorer Angie Welle. Her number 32 is about to be immortalized in the rafters of Hilton Coliseum, as she will be just the fourth women’s basketball player to have her number retired at Iowa State.

Starters:

4 Alison Lacey  Sr.  G

10 Denae Stuckey  Sr.  G

11 Kelsey Bolte  Jr.  G

33 Chelsea Poppens  Fr.  F

55 Anna Prins  Fr.  C
